A Global Phenomenon

Monster Hunter World posed a unique challenge for SpecialGun, as it did for its creators: how to sell a game which has limited traction in the west but massive appeal in the east. Our solution was simple: let the people behind this phenomenon tell the story of its development in their own words, and show their passion for expanding their player base.

The result was a 40 minute documentary, shot at Capcom HQ in Osaka and featuring unprecedented access, which successfully captured the process of bringing this colossal franchise to a bigger stage. We also worked closely with Capcom in LA and Germany, following key members of staff showing players the core appeal of the game, and even managed to shoot a series of humorous skits with the game’s producer.
